We're west coast fishing and wilderness experts. Our 32-foot cruiser, the Starfisher, is based in Port Hardy, B.C. We're experienced anglers, boaters and campers, familiar with the waters, wildlife and scenic beauty of Vancouver Island.

Owner David Connor has spent his life working on the west coast, much of it on the water.

"As an angler, I've had a fishing pole in hand since I was 10 years' old. I've landed countless halibut, salmon, red snapper, ling cod and sport fishing species around the world.

Now I spend my summers running fishing charters, to help other anglers enjoy the thrill of landing that BIG FISH - whether a salmon, halibut, ling cod, chinook or red snapper.

"On my boat, everyone who catches a fish is a "star" - and we've made a lot of stars on our fishing charters. Starfish Charters is a family venture which is family-oriented. My son Richard helps with many of our fishing charters and we frequently host family fishing trips.

"In addition to fishing, my charters are also scenic, wildlife and ecological tours. I share my knowledge of the B.C. west coast and Vancouver Island. Depending on the season, visitors may even enjoy whale watching."

Port Hardy

Port Hardy is a hub of sports fishing on Vancouver Island in B.C.

Other species landed by anglers include salmon (spring, or chinook). red snapper and ling cod.

People also visit Port Hardy and Vancouver Island to view wildlife, both on land and on water. In addition to fishing charters, David Connor offers wildlife and ecological tours. Guests catch glimpses of Orcas (killer whales), sea lions, sea otters, baleen whales, bears on the beaches and deer in the foliage, plus Peregrine Falcons and Bald Eagles soaring overhead. Between land and sea, visitors can see seabirds, shorebirds, gulls and ducks.

Amenities in this fishing community include an airport, hospital and coast guard station. Port Hardy also offers quality hotels and motels, comfortable bed and breakfast accommodation, and camp grounds. The downtown has an array of shops, restaurants, pubs and a post office.
